Reports
Reports generate structured, printable summaries from your data. All reports can be saved as PDF using your system’s Print dialog (⌘P on macOS, Ctrl+P on Windows → Save as PDF).
Lab Summary
Section titled “Lab Summary”A printable overview of your results grouped by visit date and test category — useful for sharing with a provider before an appointment.
Options:
- Date range (From / To)
- Status filter — All, Abnormal, Borderline, or Normal only
Output: One section per visit date, each broken into categories (CBC, CMP, Lipid, etc.), showing test name, value, reference range, and status for each result.
Appointment Prep
Section titled “Appointment Prep”A focused summary of what changed in the last period — designed to give you and your doctor a quick picture of what’s worth discussing.
Sections:
- Discussion Points — a free-text area you fill in before the appointment
- Lab Highlights — abnormal results, significant changes (≥10% from previous), and any results you’ve manually added
- Medication Changes — medications started or stopped in the selected period
- Trending Alerts — tests that are consistently moving up or down
- Journal Notes — entries from your Journal in the selected date range
Options:
- Date range (default: last 3 months)
- Tag filter — show only tests associated with a specific tag
AI summary (optional): If you have an AI provider configured, click Generate AI Summary to get a plain-language interpretation of the highlights. This sends your recent lab data to the AI provider — see Privacy & Security for details.
Editing the report
Section titled “Editing the report”Click Edit to enter edit mode. In edit mode you can:
- Remove individual items — click × next to any lab result, medication entry, trending alert, or journal entry to hide it from the report
- Remove entire sections — click × in the section heading to collapse the entire section (Discussion Points, Lab Highlights, Medication Changes, Trending Concerns, or Symptom Notes)
- Restore removed items or sections — removed items appear struck-through with a ↻ restore button
- Add tests — use the search box at the bottom of Lab Highlights to include additional tests from the period that weren’t automatically surfaced
Hidden items and sections are invisible in the printed PDF. Click Done editing when finished.
Medication Effect
Section titled “Medication Effect”Compares your lab values before and after starting a specific medication.
How it works:
- Select a medication from the dropdown
- HealthViewer uses the medication’s start date as the dividing line
- Each test result is shown in a before/after table with the percentage change (↑ or ↓)
- Results are grouped by category
Requirements: The selected medication must have a start date recorded.
AI interpretation (optional): Click Get AI Interpretation to have the AI summarize what the before/after changes might suggest. This sends the comparison data to your configured AI provider.
Annual Review
Section titled “Annual Review”A year-over-year comparison of all your results — useful for spotting gradual trends that may not be obvious in shorter windows.
Options: Year selector (current year ± 5 years)
Output: Side-by-side tables by category showing the prior year value, current year value, and percentage change. A summary line shows how many tests increased, decreased, stayed stable, or are new this year. Tests not repeated in the current year are noted.
Custom Reports
Section titled “Custom Reports”Custom Reports let you assemble any combination of trend charts and lab result tables into a single named document — useful for tracking a specific health goal, sharing a focused picture with a specialist, or archiving a particular period.
Creating a report
Section titled “Creating a report”From the Reports hub, click + New Report, enter a name, and press Enter. The new report opens immediately.
Adding content
Section titled “Adding content”From Trends: Select your tests and time range, then click Add to Report in the toolbar. Each chart is saved as a separate item so you can reorder and remove them individually.
From Panels: Click Add to Report next to any panel category heading to capture all results in that category.
From Results: Select individual rows using the checkboxes, then click Add to Report.
Cover page
Section titled “Cover page”Click Cover page at the top of the report to expand the editor. You can set:
- Patient name
- Date of birth
- Free-text notes or summary
The cover page prints as a full first page with the patient info and report name. A “Generated with HealthViewer” watermark appears in the footer of every printed page.
Reordering and removing items
Section titled “Reordering and removing items”Each item in the report has ▲ / ▼ buttons to move it up or down, and an × button to remove it.
Lab result tables
Section titled “Lab result tables”Lab results added from Panels or Results are displayed as compact tables grouped by panel and date — matching the Panel View layout. If you add multiple batches of results, consecutive results items are merged into a single table automatically, with their panels and dates deduplicated.
In print, the Status column is replaced by a visual reference range bar to save space.
Renaming and deleting
Section titled “Renaming and deleting”Click the pencil icon next to the report name to rename it inline. To delete the report permanently, click the × button in the top-right corner of the report page.
Printing Any Report
Section titled “Printing Any Report”Click Print / Save as PDF or use your system’s Print shortcut (⌘P / Ctrl+P) to open the print dialog. Choose Save as PDF to save a file rather than printing to paper.
Navigation, buttons, and editing controls are automatically hidden in print. For Custom Reports, items that would span multiple pages include a page break before the next item.
